Review by hotel critic
Wisemans Retreat Motel offers a unique slice of riverbank charm, set beside the beautiful Hawkesbury River. On our recent stay, the newly renovated rooms showcased a clean, comfortable space, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploration. While the view was slightly obscured by growing foliage, glimpses of the river and hills still enchanted us, and we adored the chorus of rainbow lorikeets nearby! it's essential to weigh the luxury versus value here. Although the pool was inviting, we found it less than ideal, marred by the natural surroundings with some uninvited guests. Staff painted it as an unavoidable consequence of being in the bush, which felt like an easy excuse. The hotel's location offers peace and proximity to historical sites, making it a worthy choice for plenty of outdoor activities like fishing and hiking. All considered, the value is evident - this is a tranquil base for an Irish landscape lover like me, but do keep an eye on the little details.
